Tomorrow’s Cleaning is saddened to share the news that Ivor Smith, former Managing Director of Norfolk-based Anglian Chemicals, has sadly passed away.
Together with his wife and business partner Beryl and their son Paul Hendry-Smith, Ivor played a key role in establishing Anglian Chemicals as a major distributor in the UK and Europe. They represented US manufacturer Nobles Floor Machines in the UK and Europe with their innovative cleaning machines, and later Essential Industries, known for its concentrated cleaning chemicals.
From the 1980’s onward, the family-led business maintained a strong presence at trade exhibitions across the UK and at international events such as Interclean Amsterdam. Their consistent involvement earned them respect both at home and abroad, thanks to their professional approach and strong foundation in family values.
After stepping back from the cleaning industry, Ivor remained active, lending his experience and support to The Light Aircraft Company – an enterprise launched by his engineer son Paul, whose passion lies in light aircraft.
Ivor was widely regarded as one of the kindest and most genuine figures in the cleaning and hygiene sector. His passing leaves a significant void for many, and he will be missed.
