Bunzl CHS Waves Farewell To Eric Wright After 36 Years Of Service

Published on 30/04/2015
After 36 years of dedicated service as Purchasing Manager at Bunzl Cleaning and Hygiene Supplies (BCHS) Eric Wright is set to retire at the end of April 2015.
Eric Wright joined the Willenhall Branch of the company in January 1979, which was then known as Initial Supplies, where he worked tirelessly as a Commercial Manager for the business before working his way up to the role of Purchasing Manager.
During his time with the business, Eric was hugely influential in acquisitions and integration, and helped shape the numerous acquisitions the business made before Initial Supplies was later purchased by Bunzl CHS.
Despite having many highlights during his extensive years of service, Eric has recognised the part he played in making environmentally friendly product ranges an integral part of the company’s offering, which at the time was an innovative move. Working closely with Defra to have the Ecoflower range approved, this enabled the company to be the first commercial market to offer the range.
When not driving forward innovation, Eric’s day to day duties involved maintenance of the product code and purchasing system which is still used today, and planning product catalogues.
Speaking of Eric’s retirement, Mike Kenny Managing Director at Bunzl CHS said: “Eric has played a major part over the years in making BCHS such a successful and key player with Bunzl UK and Ireland.
“He has been a constant source of knowledge and assistance to me, as well as to many of my colleagues and peers. I have never met anyone who knows quite as much about the janitorial industry as Eric does and there is very little that he doesn’t know about our products and services.
“I have personally known Eric for 20 years since the acquisition of BCL supplies and can honestly say that he is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet both in business and socially.
“It has been a pleasure working with Eric; and he will be an extremely hard act to follow.”
