Industry Prefers Dry Mopping, Reveals Poll
Published on 26/09/2014
Dry mopping is more effective than vacuuming when it comes to cleaning healthcare facilities, an online poll has revealed. A question was posed to readers of the industry news site: dry mopping vs. vacuum, which is the most effective?
The results of the poll, run by Jigsaw Cleaning Systems, revealed that 84% of respondents felt dry mopping was the best way to keep hard floors clean – just 16% chose traditional vacuum cleaning. Jigsaw Cleaning Systems is at the forefront of introducing new technology to the healthcare cleaning sector, including innovative Masslinn cloths.
Hospitals including the Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire and Weston General Hospital near Weston-super-Mare, have embraced the system. It uses cloths impregnated with mineral oil which catch dust, minimising the risk of it being swept into the air and dispersed through air-borne movements.
Brian Boll, Operations Director at Jigsaw Cleaning Systems, said: “This is a clear sign that the industry is embracing the use of new technology over old, systems which offer both improved effectiveness and efficiencies. Our feedback from customers is that dry mopping has many advantages over vacuuming, including reduced noise, electricity consumption and shorter usage times.”
