New Team Cleans Up At Famous Rugby Venue
Published on 08/10/2015
Thomond Park Stadium, in Limerick, Ireland, home to Munster Rugby, one of the most successful and best supported rugby clubs in the world, has appointed Grosvenor Services to clean and maintain its redeveloped facility.
The stadium is renowned for its award-winning design and architecture. Since reopening in 2008, with Munster playing the All Blacks, the famous venue has increased its capacity to 25,600, and now has an extensive range of conference and banqueting facilities and an interactive museum, all of which need to be carefully maintained.
Colm Moran, Operations Manager, said: “When selecting a new cleaning provider, we took it as given that they should have the right experience and credentials, but there were three key factors which made Grosvenor Services stand out. Firstly, they understood the importance of our community programme, providing local cleaning staff where possible. Secondly, they use handheld PDAs to record cleaning performance data which benefits the environment as well as making auditing easier. Finally the management team haven’t lost touch with the people on the ground and are available as and when needed.”
Under an initial three year contract, Grosvenor Services is providing daily cleaning across the venue in the morning and afternoon, plus periodic deep cleaning. The team and its requirements will increase during the build up to, during and after major events. Recognising that the customer environment is critical in such a busy venue, the on-site cleaning teams are trained in customer service skills and this will enable them to interact confidently with fans on match days. They are also responsible for grounds maintenance, providing road sweepers and other specialist machinery to keep the facility in an immaculate condition.
Bernard McCauley, Group Managing Director at Grosvenor Services, said: “Winning this prestigious contract is a fantastic development for us. Rugby is extremely high profile at the moment and as World Cup fever builds we feel that we’ve signed with a great team. Thomond Park is renowned internationally for its unique history and atmosphere and we are proud to be involved in the next stage of its growth on the worldwide stage.”
