Tracey Peters ‘Cleans Up’ At BICSc Northern Ireland Cleaning Operative Of The Year Awards
This year’s presentation of Northern Ireland’s Cleaning Operative of the Year Awards was held at Belfast City Hall, with Tracey Peters from the Northern Health Trust claiming the top prize.

Finalists across six categories, including Education, Retail and Health, were all in attendance along with their company representatives and other invited guests. The Chairman of BICSc Bill McMillan, and BICSc CEO Stan Atkins, were also in attendance to give their keynote speech and assist with awards presentations.

The awards were sponsored by Zenith Hygiene, Kimberly-Clark, Carey floor care and Consumable products, and they had the responsibility of judging the winners, which, in keeping with tradition, were only announced on the day.

The deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast opened the awards by welcoming everyone to Belfast City Hall. The sponsors as well as this year’s keynote speech focussed on the traditionally unnoticed but admirable work that cleaning operatives in our industry carry out on daily basis. All three judges passed comment on how hard it was to decide on an overall winner this year, before announcing that Tracey had claimed the award.

During his speech, Mr McMillan said:  “I think it is really important to acknowledge that is through the hard work and dedication of the members of the BICSc Northern Ireland committee in organising these events each year that we are able to showcase the talent and dedication of the cleaning operatives within the Cleaning Industry in Northern Ireland. An industry that to the general public is almost invisible but is invaluable to the daily life in our Schools, Hospitals, Universities, Offices, factories and Council buildings.

“It is a recognised fact that through quality training and assessing; employers will reap the benefits of a workforce that feels valued, that leads to increased productivity, which in turn results in higher customer satisfaction and reduced levels of staff turnover. All of this, I believe, points to a bright and progressive future within the Northern Irish cleaning industry.”
