35% plastic container reduction from Churchill

Churchill Group reduces plastic container usage in cleaning operations by 35%

Churchill Group has reduced the use of plastic containers in its cleaning division by 35% in the second half of 2019, a reduction of 291,345 plastic containers.

Churchill achieved this reduction by replacing its top five cleaning products with water-soluble sachets. Plastic reduction is one part of Churchill’s efforts to make sustainability a key focus of the business, which includes its ‘#MakeOneChange’ campaign launched October 2019 and a sustainability charter unveiled in January 2020.

The water-soluble sachets enable cleaning staff to work more sustainably and in-line with the company’s wider approach to environmentally-sound FM services. Churchill recorded drastic reduction in plastic use across all of its UK operating regions, with London and East Anglia achieving the biggest reductions.

Andrew Broderick, group QHSE and Sustainability Director, commented: “We are immensely proud of our strong sustainability record at Churchill. We’re constantly exploring ways to lessen our impact on the planet year on year and this huge decrease in plastic use is a big win. We look forward to further enhancing our status as leaders in the field of sustainability in FM throughout 2020.”
