John Hickman has been given a new senior role at Ideal Manufacturing, having been appointed to the board of directors as Director of Laundry & Textile Care.

The position will see John take on overall responsibility for commercial laundry, OPL and textile care – overseeing a team of technical staff and engineers. He will also take a leading role in developing export markets.

Dr Mike Kalli and Phillip Kalli at Ideal Manufacturing, said: “We’re delighted to promote John to the board, and we can see his appointment further strengthening our position in the industry.

“John knows his way around a laundry and he’s genuinely one of the most knowledgeable professionals operating in the industry today. He has a wealth of expertise and experience, but better still – he’s a great person to work with and a real team player.

“We’re proud to be an independent British laundry detergent manufacturer and we think John’s considered approach, integrity, terrific sense of humour, strong team ethic and calmness under pressure are exactly the qualities we want to champion in our organisation. We’re looking forward to working closely with John to continue refining and innovating in the commercial laundry sector.”

John joined Ideal in 2001 and has been instrumental in delivering technical laundry expertise to all types and sizes of laundry customer. He has been a major part of Ideal’s considerable growth over the last 15 years as National Sales Manager.

He later moved to Barr Chemicals Ltd and then Powles Hunt & Sons Ltd in 1984. Thousands of hours in laundries followed, setting up programs and problem solving, delivering training seminars and workshops in laundry technology and chemistry around the world. In 2014 John became a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Launderers.
