A CLEAR FUTURE WITH KIER

A CLEAR FUTURE WITH KIER
Leading repairs and maintenance provider, Kier, has joined forces with a local school to raise awareness of littering in the town of Harlow. By supplying Passmore Academy with equipment for a community day they held last month, Kier aims to reaffirm its commitment to the environment.

Kier combines the latest technology, logistics expertise and innovative service design to provide a complete range of environmental services tailored to meet the individual needs of local communities. Kier Harlow got involved after being contacted by Passmore Academy about the community day, which involved pupils litter picking, asking if they could provide pickers, bags and gloves.

Kier Operations Director, John Phillips, said: “We were very pleased to help Passmore Academy by providing them with the equipment. Kier prides itself on its ability to engage with the communities it serves, and this was a perfect way to build a relationship with a local institution and to spread these important environmental messages to young people.”

Passmore Academy Principal's PA, Sheila Sumsion, said: “Without the help and support of the business community in Harlow, our young people would not be given the opportunity to learn what is like to be an active citizen striving to make the place they live better. We are incredibly grateful to Kier for their support on this vital day in our calendar, and we look forward to working even more closely with more young people next year.”

Kier Harlow is a joint venture arrangement between Harlow Council and Kier and provides services to more than 10,000 council properties. Kier Harlow recently employed a new environmental enforcement officer and deployed a team of five hand-operated barrow beat sweepers to target litter and rubbish in hotspot areas around the town.
