Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners To Celebrate 30th Birthday
Published on 12/02/2016
The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners will this year celebrate the 30th anniversary of being granted full livery status by the City of London’s Court of Aldermen.
While it proudly supports and preserves the customs and traditions of The City, the WCEC is much more than a relic of another age. As befits a soon to be 30-year-old organisation, it is very much a modern Livery Company, focused on helping to meet the changing needs and challenges of today’s cleaning industry.
With more than 200 members from many of the major cleaning and support service management companies and the manufacturers and suppliers to the sector, it is a very relevant and influential organisation.
The Company encourages and maintains high standards of practice and integrity through social and professional networking. It also promotes and supports the next generation of cleaning professionals through a number of education and training programmes.
Mr Timothy Doyle, Master of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners, said: “I am very proud to be Master of this Company as it approaches its 30th anniversary. Our traditions are rooted in the past, but our role is to work in the industry of the here and now, and to ensure future generations can enjoy our legacy for years to come. The Company offers the opportunity to work with those who have reached the top of the industry and also to help develop those people on their way up.”
Originally founded in 1972 as the Guild of Cleaners – and subsequently known as the Guild of Master Cleaners – The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners became one of 110 Livery Companies in October 1986. The Companies are all based upon trades, industries and professions and carry on the traditions of the Guilds and Livery Companies which started in the 12th century.
