Rentokil Launches New Damp Rod System
Published on 16/03/2014
Rentokil Property Care has launched an innovative new solution for treating rising damp, which removes the need to inject a liquid carrier to form a chemical damp proof course. The Rentokil Damp Rod system is based on a high-strength, liquid free, damp proofing formulation, which is inserted directly into holes in property walls, without the need for an injection pump.
Rising damp in buildings occurs when water from the ground rises up through bricks and mortar via capillary action. If left untreated, this can cause damage to internal finishes such as plaster and paintwork, as well as potentially leading to the decay of timbers.
Rentokil’s new Damp Rod system offers a solution to rising damp which is both less messy and less disruptive than traditional methods. The rods eliminate the need to inject large amounts of fluid into an already wet wall, which means faster drying times, allowing re-plastering and re-decoration to be undertaken more quickly. In addition, the risk of fluid spillages, which can damage carpets, wooden floors and patios, has been eliminated. For added peace-of-mind for property owners, Rentokil’s Damp Rod treatment comes with a 30-year guarantee which can be passed on to the new owners, if and when a property changes hands.
Berwyn Evans, UK Product Manager of Rentokil Property Care, commented: “Rentokil is renowned for innovation across its service-offering, and this treatment is no exception. Delivering a quicker turnaround of properties, less mess and a 30-year guarantee, the Rentokil Damp Rod system offers an alternative for the thousands of homeowners affected by rising damp every year. Improved turnaround times also mean that this method of damp proofing is likely to appeal to property developers as well.”
