Published on 24/03/2015
Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been awarded a two-year contract extension with the London Underground.
Interserve will continue to deliver facilities services across 12 depots and 168 stations. The contract, which started in 2010, includes specialist cleaning of stations and trains, waste management, pest control, station security and vegetation management, as well as asset management and carriage refurbishment.
Interserve’s 1,600-strong team cleans 2,490 carriages and 685,000m2 of train floors every night, and collects rubbish from 315km of track each week.
Wayne Goldsmith, Director for Transport at Interserve, said: “Creating a safe, secure and welcoming environment for passengers, visitors and employees alike is at the core of our service delivery; especially when working in a 24/7 live environment.
“Our 25 years of expertise in this area has proved invaluable, and has helped us develop an industry leading approach to safety based on rigorous risk assessments and employee training.”
