Senior EU Leader To Discuss The Circular Economy Package In Amsterdam

Dr. Hugo-Maria Schally will lead a session looking at the opportunities offered by the EU Circular Economy Package at ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam next month.

Dr. Hugo-Maria Schally – Head of Unit Eco-Innovation and Circular Economy, Directorate General for the Environment, Directorate Green Economy of the European Commission, will lead a session titled ‘Redefining Innovation – Opportunities of the EU Circular Economy Package’ at ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam on 12th May.

As a leading advocate of sustainability in Europe, Dr. Schally will provide attendees with an overview of the Circular Economy Package and in particular, its potential to impact the cleaning sector by improving global competitiveness, fostering sustainable economic growth and generating new jobs.

Following the keynote speech, Reinhard Schneider, a passionate eco-entrepreneur and CEO of Werner and Mertz, will discuss what it takes to turn the dream of 100% post-consumer recyclable content into a reality.

As leader of a private, family-run business, Schneider will explain how companies needn’t be international conglomerates to successfully meet circular economy goals. Wrapping up the session will be a panel discussion with leading figures from the professional cleaning, chemical, equipment, and facility service sectors including Markus Asch of Kärcher, Michele Redi of IPC, Anette Timmer-Larsen of Tarkett Group, Joost Brinkhuis from Asito, and Frank Vancraeyveld from Werner and Mertz, moderated by Dianna Steinbach, ISSA’s Director of EMEA Services.

And more key thought-leaders from the cleaning industry have been signed up by ISSA to deliver a programme of exciting and inspirational educational seminars, panel discussions and forums. The programme, sponsored by Ecolab, is an engaging combination of in-depth seminars and discussions, held in the RAI Amsterdam’s Elicium building, twinned with quick-fire, lunch-and-learn sessions in the exhibition’s new InnovationLAB area.

Topics for the programme range from seminars on recent shake-ups in the cleaning sector’s supply chain; the comparative advantages of leasing or buying equipment; and the EU Circular Economy package for the professional cleaning industry. Breakthrough ideas on developing new sales strategies for cleaning professionals will also be covered extensively. Moreover, talks on selling through connecting cleaning with safety and changing the sales narrative from cost to profit are likely to appeal to wide audiences.

Diana Steinbach, ISSA’s Director of EMEA Services added: “We’re pleased to have more industry experts than ever before at an Amsterdam show providing their analysis of, and actionable insights on, the big issues currently facing the world of cleaning. We are looking forward to a busy and productive programme and would urge all exhibition visitors to make the most of the range of informative sessions on offer.”

All sessions are free to attend, but places are limited so early arrival is recommended. The ‘Redefining Innovation – Opportunities of the EU Circular Economy Package’ seminar will take place between 14:00-15:15 on Thursday 12 May at D201 (RAI Elicium).
