Winner Of Greyland Putting Competition Announced

Prestige Supplies NW collect their prize winnings, a pallet of cleaning chemicals, from Greyland MD Richard Dyson.

The winner of the Greyland putting competition at the Manchester Cleaning Show has been announced.

John Wolohan, founder of Prestige Supplies NW in Wigan, was the overall winner of the competition, bagging himself a pallet of cleaning chemicals worth more than £750.

And John, who is a regular golfer, was delighted to have won. He said: “It’s unbelievable to have won, to be quite honest. I do play golf, but as my son keeps telling me, I can’t putt! So I feel really good about winning.

“When we went to the exhibition, we knew that Greyland were there, but I didn’t know about the putting competition, it was literally on the day that I saw it and had a go, which makes winning it even better.”

Established in 2005, Prestige Supplies NW is a family-run business, providing cleaning products and chemicals to the automotive industry, and the company is looking to expand into the catering market too, which is what brought them to the show.

Held on 6-7th April at Event City, the show was by all accounts considered to be a huge success, with organisers the British Cleaning Council and Quartz Business Media putting official visitor numbers at just under 2,500 – more than double the amount originally anticipated.

And John added that having an event in the north was of particular benefit to Prestige. He said: “Being from Wigan, it was lovely for us to be able to go to a show on a local basis, rather than having to travel all over the country.

“And I was very impressed with the show and with the calibre of people that were exhibiting there. I was really impressed with the whole set up of it.”

Richard Dyson, Managing Director of Greyland, added: “The Golf Putting Challenge was actually a last minute idea because Jack Barber, one of our sales reps, is an ex golf pro, so we thought we’d have a putting competition and give away a pallet of our cleaning chemicals.

“We’re very pleased with the show. It was busy – I think we had almost 100 people take part in the competition – so I think we’ve got a permanent fixture in the diary now.

“Out of it we had at least a dozen new Greyland distributors around the north of England and the Midlands, including Prestige. So I’m delighted that John and Prestige Supplies won the competition, and the free pallet of cleaning chemicals.”
