G4S FM Awarded £4.1m Contract Extension At Sunderland Royal Hospital

The cleaning contract for G4S FM at Sunderland Royal Hospital has been extended for a further three years.
G4S Facilities Management (G4S FM) this week announced that its cleaning contract at Sunderland Royal Hospital has been extended for three more years, and new services have been added by taking on the delivery of ward hostess services at the 970-bed healthcare site.

The cleaning contract, which has been in place since 2011, is worth £3.5m per annum. It will be boosted by an extra £600k per annum following the addition of the ward hostess service. Around 60 staff from City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust are expected to TUPE across to G4S when the G4S run ward hostess service goes live on 1st April 2015, bringing the total number of G4S FM staff on site to more than 300.

A spokesperson for City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This is another key stage in the development of the partnership approach, to maximise the expertise and experience of a partner such as G4S, which will be reflected by an enhanced service to our patients and staff alike.”
