CHSA Begins Search For Undergraduate Scholar For 2016
Published on 19/02/2016
The Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) has launched its Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme for 2016 and is now on the hunt for the winning Scholar.
The Scholarship is open to the sons and daughters of CHSA members who on 1 September 2016 will be 18 years or over and commencing their higher education studies this year. The successful applicant will receive £4,500, spread over their three-year degree.
David Garcia, Treasurer of the CHSA and Chairman of Polaris Plastics explained: “The employees of CHSA members work hard and this Scheme provides us with an opportunity to say thank you. Access to higher education is incredibly expensive and whilst this Scholarship obviously does not cover the whole cost, it lifts the pressure a little.
“We’re contacting members now, inviting them to spread the word amongst their employees. This is a brilliant opportunity for their sons and daughters and we want as many as possible to apply.”
Applicants need to submit their completed form, which can be obtained from Linda Belcher, the Secretary of the CHSA (secretary@chsa.co.uk), by 30 June 2016. Those shortlisted will be interviewed in July by a selection panel to be led by David Garcia.
The successful applicant must be determined, able and committed to contributing to their local community. The criteria the judging panel will be looking for encompass need, worthiness, endeavour and the ‘x-factor’.
David Garcia added: “The Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme also gives us a way to introduce the next generation of talent to our industry, should they so choose. Through the application process they come into contact with the cleaning and hygiene sector and will be able to find out about the career opportunities available. Our hope is that as a result they will come back to our industry on graduation, although this is not a requirement.”
