Online Tool Offers Direct Route To Pest Expert
Published on 07/03/2016
Cleaning professionals seeking advice on pest control are being pointed to an online tool delivering a direct route to an expert.
The free ‘Find A Pest Controller’ facility creates a quick and easy way to find quality contractors in any part of the country.
Use of the resource has increased by as much as 30% in a year and Simon Forrester, Chief Executive of national trade body the British Pest Control Association (BPCA), says that’s an illustration of its value.
He said: “Cleaning companies need to ensure pest management is carried out by reputable firms who’ll provide safe, effective and legal treatment.
“Those suffering infestations or those looking to best protect themselves should have any work undertaken by fully compliant professional contractors.
“Our search engine makes the process of finding and appointing the right company in any area very simple. And because it leads people to a member of the BPCA, those who use the facility can be assured they’re talking to experts in the field.”
Membership of the not-for-profit trade body acts as a demonstration of professional credentials as companies are obliged to meet rigorous criteria.
They must demonstrate they operate on a sound financial basis, have the correct insurances in place and employ only trained staff. They must also prove they operate both legally and professionally and that they meticulously uphold health and safety obligations.
Rules introduced at the turn of the year mean all servicing members must also be independently assessed against the European Standard for Pest Management Services (EN16636) – a quality standard recognised throughout the EU.
Mr Forrester added: “Anyone in the cleaning sector looking to appoint a contractor can be tempted to look for the cheapest solution, but the pest control industry is awash with companies who are not true specialists in the field.
“They might submit the cheapest quote, but they might not do the job properly or effectively and that can lead to big problems further down the line.
“By visiting our website and tapping in their post code, cleaning professionals are given access to a valuable resource delivering the details of more than 500 professional operators across the UK.”
