BBC Bring The TV Cameras To Manchester Cleaning Show

The Manchester Cleaning Show gained some extra publicity before the doors opened, thanks to a special visit from the BBC Breakfast crew.

Many of those going to the show were surprised to see Steph McGovern, Business correspondent for the BBC Breakfast show, reporting live from Event City as the final preparations took place on Wednesday morning.

During a series of spots for the live show on BBC1, Steph rode around on several different scrubber dryers, presented some facts about the cleaning industry and conducted interviews with several exhibitors, including Simon Hollingbery, chairman of co-organisers, the British Cleaning Council.

The appearance of the TV cameras certainly caused a stir across the show floor, and was the hot topic of conversation throughout the day, with visitors and exhibitors alike excited by the extra publicity.

And Simon Hollingbery was delighted with the extra exposure for the show. Speaking at the show, he said: “It’s absolutely brilliant for the show. When you consider that this only saw the light of day in June last year, it’s not a bad showing.

“I know that Steve Diprose [Managing Director of co-organisers Quartz Business Media] is delighted because when you look at the footfall and the people that are about now, it’s brilliant.”
